20th Jun to 23rd Jun
20th Jun:
Huge traffic on the Mumbai GNU/Linux users group mailing list about where to hold the meet, timing all decided, agenda all decided, but no venue!Sanjay had come up with an offer to host the meet at his place on the 18th,but there’s no consensus, whether we should go to Bandra or IIT would be a better choice.Vipul tries to get permission, seems red tape has taken over the IITs too,so we are waiting for a positive Yes or No,finally we take a call on freezing on Bandra and promise Vipul to give more than 36 hours notice next time round. So,I am sure that I’ve to make my presentations which I shall present in college during Sem 5 in two days,so that I can present them at the GLUG meet and receive suggestions and criticism.
21st Jun:
Waking up at 11:00 am,I realize there’s two presenatations to make.Still,I’ve no mood and sit till evening doing everything except the presentation. Finally start on my first serious presentation and sit and work till about 10:30 pm with a break for dinner. It’s still not a finished product though. And presentation 2 is still a blank page,am chatting with Roshan and get some ideas from just NOT concentrating on the presentation.
22nd Jun:
Somehow, wake up early(by vacation standards,7:00 am).Even I don’t know why I woke up so early, but having woken up,decide to work on the presentation 2.Go round in circles trying to get screenshots of the Live CD partitioner and reboot into Windows for a screenshot of the WUBI screen.Do some work, reduce the single boot option of installing Ubuntu to two slides and I’m done.Burn the presentations to my CD-RW(a slight overkill of capacity,I know, but I was going to take them anyway,to maybe get lucky and receive some exciting new software at the meet),think up improvements, but am lazy to burn them again.
So postpone editing even the presentations on the hard disk to after the meet.Just take them along,Roshan meets me in the bus after boarding at SakiNaka and I’m surprised to be the first to start proceedings.Present them, advised to reduce the text, and slight modifications to the words as substituting market share with mind share, etc. Some modifications in the plan too,the plan of two separate seminars comes down to one “seminar” which is actually more of an install fest, with presentation 1 being presented while the systems complete installing.
Found quite a good resource of war-tales at the meet, and thought of putting up the presentations under the GNU FDL and probably host them on the GLUG-Bom wiki.
